Discs or drums can be damaged from scarring, cracking, warping or even a foreign object. Unless brake discs have reached the manufacturer's minimum thickness, it is more economical to machine the discs or drums to solve such problems as vibrations, pedal pulsation, steering shudder, noises or lateral run-out. The machining process is performed on a brake lathe, which removes a very thin layer off the disc surface to clean off minor damage, restore uniform thickness and ensure a smooth surface for more efficient braking. Machining of the discs will maximise the life of the brake pads on the vehicle, which is usually cheaper than replacement.
Your vehicle's brakes will be inspected at every service interval to maintain safety standards and maximise braking efficiency.
